Breezeline welcomes Rep. Rob Wittman to its King George Facility
Breezeline was delighted to welcome Congressman Rob Wittman (R-VA-01) to its King George facility for a tour and to showcase the organization's operations in the Northern Neck and Middle Peninsula region.
Congressman Wittman, who represents the majority of Breezeline’s service areas in the Commonwealth, was invited by Breezeline leadership and its technical operations team to tour the internet service provider’s regional headend, the primary hub for its subscribers.
“It was a privilege to host Rep. Wittman at our King George facility and showcase the incredible work we’re doing in the region. We deeply appreciate the dedication to understanding the contributions we strive to make in our industry and community." said Paul Cowling , Cogecos’ Chief Corporate Affairs and Legal Officer.
The Breezeline team showed the Congressman the evolution of technology used in the past (TVRO, Antenna, HFC), down to new technologies (XGS PON, Streaming Video) currently used to keep up with the demand for faster speeds and better service quality products. As part of that technology evolution, Wittman was given a demonstration of how drop fiber is spliced and prepared for use in providing service to our customers' homes.
“Expanding access to high-speed internet is critical to economic development and growth in rural communities across Virginia’s First District, the Commonwealth, and the nation,” said Congressman Wittman. “As co-chair of the Congressional Rural Broadband Caucus, I’ve been proud to help draft legislation to improve mapping, support grant applications, and ensure accurate coverage. I thank the entire team at Breezeline for giving me a tour of their facility and for their critical work in serving our residents in the Northern Neck and Middle Peninsula.”
Several local officials also attended this tour, including Mayor Robin Schick of Colonial Beach, Town Manager India Adams-Jacobs, Bowling Green, Councilwoman Jean Davis, Bowling Green, Councilman Jeff Voit, Bowling Green, Timothy Trivett, Westmoreland County Supervisor, Woody Hynson, Westmoreland County Supervisor, Administrator Charles Culley, Caroline County, Vice Chair Nancy Long, Caroline County Board of Supervisors and David Sadler, Caroline County Director of IT.
