How do I change the default WiFi network names and passwords?

If you have subscribed to WiFi Your Way, you can easily change the WiFi network name and password in the WiFi Your Way App.

If you do not have WiFi Your Way, please select the brand of your gateway below and follow the instructions:

Hitron instructions to change the default WiFi network names and passwords:

  1. On your wireless device:
    1. Connect to the default WiFi network that is detailed on the label on the back of the Hitron gateway.

    2. Open up an internet web browser (like Safari or Chrome).

    3. Type 192.168.0.1 into the address bar and hit enter/go.

    4. This will take you to a “Hitron” page.

  2. On the Hitron page:
    1. Type “cusadmin” in the username field.

    2. Type “password” into the password field. Then click the login button.

    3. At the top of the page, select the “Wireless” tab.

    4. You will see first the 2.4GHz network details and then the 5GHz WiFi network details. Under each, you will see default network names.

    5. Replace the default network names with a WiFi network name you want and click, “Save.”

    6. Note - You will be disconnected from the default WiFi network, as it has now been renamed.

  3. Go back into your WiFi settings on your wireless device.
    1. Select one of the new WiFi network names you created.

    2. Enter the new password created.

    3. Write down your new network names and passwords to connect all of your devices to your home network.

Technicolor instructions to change the default WiFi network names and passwords:

  1. On your wireless device:
    1. Connect to the default WiFi network that is detailed on the label on the back of the Technicolor gateway.

    2. Open up an internet web browser (like Safari or Chrome).

    3. Type 192.168.0.1 into the address bar and hit enter/go.

    4. This will take you to a “Technicolor” page.

  2. On the Technicolor page:
    1. Type “user” in the username field. Leave the password blank. Then click the blue arrow to sign in.

    2. Scroll down to the “Wireless” category and select “Radio” from the green menu. If the green menu is not displayed on your device, click the blue circle in the top left of the screen to expand the menu panel.

    3. You will see first the 2.4GHz network details and then the 5GHz WiFi network details. Under each, you will see default network names.

    4. Replace the default network names and passwords with new WiFi network names and passwords and click, “Save.”

    5. Note - You will be disconnected from the default WiFi network, as it has now been renamed.

  3. Go back into your WiFi settings on your wireless device.
    1. Select one of the new WiFi network names you created.

    2. Enter the new password created.

    3. Write down your new network names and passwords to connect all of your devices to your home network.

Arris instructions to change the default WiFi network names and passwords:

  1. On your WiFi device:
    1. Connect to the default WiFi network that is detailed on the label on the back of the Arris gateway.

    2. Open up an internet web browser (like Safari or Chrome).

    3. Type 192.168.0.1 into the address bar and hit enter/go.

    4. This will take you to an “Arris Home Network” page.

  2. On the Arris page:
    1. Create an ARRIS ADMINISTRATOR password to manage your new gateway’s settings. It must be at least 8 characters long with at least one uppercase and lowercase letter and one special character. Please note that this ARRIS ADMINISTRATOR password is NOT your WiFi password for your new WiFi network.

    2. Enter the CAPTCHA code.

  3. Create a WiFi name and password for both the 2.4GHz and 5GHz networks. Leave the encryption method as is (WPA2 PSK). On the next page, log in with the ARRIS ADMINISTRATOR username “admin” and the new ARRIS ADMINISTRATOR password you created in Step 2a. Now, go to the WiFi settings on your WiFi device:
    1. Select one of your newly created WiFi network names created in Step 3. You will be prompted to input the new WiFi password you set up at the same time.

    2. For the best experience, connect to both the 2.4 GHz and 5 GHz networks.

    3. Write down your new network names and passwords to connect all of your devices to your home network.
